What does a website cost ?
The cost of having a website is made up of 3 parts.
Firstly there is the cost of your Domain. This is your web address, the part after the 3 w's e.g. www.mycompany.co.uk. Domains come with various extensions such as .co.uk - .com - .net - .org etc. Most UK companies and individuals opt for a .co.uk domain. Some companies that trade internationally or who want that big company feel opt for the .com domains. Sometimes you are restricted by the choice of which domains are still available or perhaps you wish to buy several domains with different extensions to make sure that no-one else poaches any of your clients by hosting their own site on a similar domain. Whatever you decide, you will need at least one domain. We can help you select, purchase and register your domain/s and manage the annual renewal for you. Domains can cost anything from £10 per year upwards.
The second part of having a website is Hosting. Hosting is like a parking place. This is where the files and databases related to your website live. Different hosts offer different services and different features. This can lead to problems if you want a particular function within your website but your host does not support this feature. We now host sites for our own clients. This ensures that all the features we offer will be available to you and also makes managing your website structure much easier as you only need to have one point of contact. Our hosting packages are from £40 per year and include our great personalised email system available via your desktop mail system or via the Webmail browser from any internet connected computer. Our comprehensive email system also includes an outgoing mail server which is omitted by many of the budget hosting companies or available as a cost option.
The third part is the website itself. The cost of designing and creating a website can vary hugely depending what you want your website to do for you. A website can for instance, be anything from a simple landing page that contains basic contact information, such as your telephone number, fax number, postal address and email addresses. You could also show your relevant opening hours and the services that you offer. Or, it could be an eCommerce site with an online shop, hundreds of pages stacked with information, downloadable pdf files, Flash animation and movie files demonstrating your products and services. Then again it could be and most probably is, something in between. Websites start from just £200 - £300 for a simple information page site.
